Takeaway from the IREM Virtual Summit

Several IREM Minnesota members participated in the IREM Virtual Summit in October 2020. Here are some of their key takeaways.
The virtual summit reminded me that everyone in our nation and internationally is adjusting and pivoting daily due to the COVID pandemic. I enjoyed hearing from different property managers around the world on how they are changing their operations to protect employees, tenants, and clients from the virus, how they are staying active, and mainly how managers are partnering with clients and tenants to overcome this era. Partnership was a key term; partnering with tenants, vendors, and clients is key. - Angela Samargia, CPM, McGough
My takeaways from the conference were how IREM has truly stepped up to keep leading during uncertain times. I tuned into John Register, Lessons Learned from Covid 19, Disrupting Cognitive Bias with Kelly Charles-Collins and Sara Ross from BrainAMPed. Each of these speakers had great inputs on how COVID has affected their industries and practical tools on how to keep pushing through. Each speaker had their own take: John was motivational, while Kelly and Sara both approached it from a psychology perspective. This is why IREM continues to be a leader - this organization brings in perspectives from all backgrounds. The more insight we get, the more we all grow. The ‘speak up, lean in, because you won’t always be invited,’ hit the nail on the head. It is difficult for introverts at times to compete with the outspoken in this industry. - Janessa Bowden, NLR Management
I always enjoy the opportunity to share experiences with our local members and connect with other IREM IAEs. It's comforting to know that other chapters are facing the same challenges we are, and to get inspiration from my peers across the country.
