As the leaves turn, it is time to think about fall mainterenance for your property or home landscape. Taking care of these fall chores ensures a healthy landscape in the spring. Southview Design can help you or your company tackle any or all chores.
- Late September-early October is a great time to over-seed the lawn. Fall over-seeding practices yield a healthier turf even with minimal germination.
- Core aerification of turf is one of the best ways to reduce thatch and compaction and increase the health of the turf.
- Cutting the turf short on the last mowing of the season helps reduce the chance of snow mold.
- Early fall is the best time to divide perennials that bloom in the spring and summer.
- Prune perennials to remove faded flowers and/or shear them back to 6-12 inches above the ground to rejuvenate.
- Remove plant debris. This helps decrease the overwintering of pests and diseases.
Fall is a wonderful time of year to grab a pumpkin-spice latte and enjoy the outdoors. A little effort now will go a long way to help ensure a beautiful spring. Let us know how we can help.
